Architectural Cognition in Practice

  • PhD student Yuqin has begun her semester at ETH Zurich.
  • Researcher Azrin has submitted the final report for the Integrated Wayfinding System Consultancy project for LTA, detailing the results of wayfinding and eyetracking studies conducted around Singapore."

Semantic Urban Elements: Linking Urban Analytics, Design, and Usage for Cyber-Physical Cities

  • The PI Filip Biljecki was invited by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to give a keynote presentation at the PLATEAU Symposium in Tokyo (a national 3D urban model / digital twin development, utilization, and open data project led by the Government of Japan).

Dense and Green Cities

  • Thomas and Sri have been invited to speak at the upcoming Building Breathable Cities event, part of the Climate Transformation: Sustainable Societies Lecture Series under the NTU Climate Transformation Programme. The event, organised by the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, will take place on Tuesday, 18 February 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Gillman Barracks. This series is coordinated by Professor Ute Meta Bauer, Senior Principal Investigator for the Climate Transformation Programme at NTU Centre for Contemporary Art.

  • Philipp Urech has been accepted for the Biennale of Architecture 2025 in Venice.

Potential Agriterritories: Agrarian Questions under Planetary Urbanisation and Agroecological Transitions

  • The MAS in Urban and Territorial Design participants presented their final Showcase projects for the EPFL semester in Lausanne last week–"Counter Projects, Counter Spaces", an investigation of the Bas-Chablais, a Franco-Swiss cross-border region within Greater Geneva, characterised by significant socio-economic disparities, a rich ecological landscape of forests, wetlands, and watersheds feeding into Lac Léman, and the presence of monofunctional business parks, plus the threat of a new motorway cutting through fragile existing ecologies.

Adaptive Mobility, Land Use and Infrastructure

  • PIs Prof Bryan Adey, Prof Prateek Bansal, Qiming Ye visitied LTA on Feb 5th. The meeting involves LTA and URA colleagues for an in-depth discussion on the next step research collaboration, and concrete research questions to explore in the next phase.

Future Cities Laboratory Global

  • On February 6, Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) Global Singapore extended a warm welcome to representatives from the Earth Observatory of Singapore working on the Climate Transformation Programme at Nanyang Technological University. The teams of both programmes convened at the Singapore-ETH Centre on CREATE Campus for an engaging and insightful discussion. The meeting provided a platform to explore common research interests, exchange knowledge, and identify potential synergies for future collaborations. By fostering dialogue between experts in urban sustainability and climate transformation, the discussion aimed to lay the groundwork for impactful, interdisciplinary partnerships that address pressing global challenges.
