Semantic Urban Elements: Linking Urban Analytics, Design, and Usage for Cyber-Physical Cities

  • The PI Filip Biljecki gave a talk to the Grab Geo division / GrabMaps and discussed an industry collaboration for the upcoming FCL IV proposal. > Matias Quintana has joined the Scientific Committee for the Urban Futures Symposium: Innovations, Trends, and Challenges conference at Empa (Sep 1-2 in Dübendorf, Switzerland). The submission deadline has been extended. Link
  • Javier Argota Sánchez-Vaquerizo presented his thesis in the French pitch competition ""Ma thèse en 180 seconds"" at the final in Zurich.
  • Matias Quintana, with support from SEC comms and Joshua Vargas, is co-organising the ICLR 2025 [CCAI x FCL Global] Sustainability x AI Networking Forum on Friday, April 25th. Registrations are open. Link
  • A journal article led by Youlong Gu, co-authored with Matias and Filip, titled ""Designing effective image-based surveys for urban visual perception"" was published in Landscape and Urban Planning. Paper

Dense and Green Cities

DEN’s forthcoming book publication titled “Dense and Green Urban Development” will be featured in the Venice Biennale Book Pavilion. This library space in the Stirling Pavilion will offer visitors a display of publications related to the participants in the 19th International Architecture Exhibition, invited by this year’s Biennale Curator Carlo Ratti.

Future Cities Laboratory Global

FCL Global researchers are donating books from FCL research outputs to the Book Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The Book Pavilion project in the Stirling Pavilion will offer visitors a display of books and catalogues related to the Participants involved in the 19th International Architecture Exhibition, including the FCL Global programme.
